Brief Background Sketch

This website was designed and produced by Alexander Peck. He first encountered the Buddhist Dharma a decade ago (in late 2011) during his retirement years.

Since that time, he has studied the Hinayana and Mahayana teachings. Presently he is pursuing Vajrayana Buddhist teachings through the Tergar Buddhist community (see Tergar.org) under the direction of Yongey Mingyur Rinpoche.

Now in his seventies, Alexander values his quieter and peaceful lifestyle with his wife, Eva, on the bay side of the city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. While not neglecting his householder duties, he cherishes the opportunity to devote himself to Dharma practice, and sharing of insights via his writing and website creation.

The photos selected for this website feature the sky. The intent is to depict the essence of the nature of mind: “Imagine a sky, empty, spacious, and pure from the beginning; its essence is like this” (Sogyal Rinpoche).

Furthermore, “everything we need is already in us, in that sky-like quality of our being, so we should develop tremendous confidence in that” (Rigdzin Shikpo).

Alexander’s aspiration for this website is that for those visiting its pages, may they study, contemplate and meditate on the preciousness of understanding the nature of mind.

Contemplation:
In describing the nature of mind, Sogyal Rinpoche writes:
“Imagine a sky, empty, spacious, and pure from the beginning; its essence is like this. Imagine a sun, luminous, clear, unobstructed, and spontaneously present; its nature is like this. Imagine that sun shining out impartially on us and all things, penetrating all directions; its energy, which is the manifestation of compassion, is like this: Nothing can obstruct it and it pervades everywhere.”
(Sogyal Rinpoche. The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying.)
